Chaka Khan
Chaka, or Queen of Funk as she is often referred to is an American singer-songwriter. In the course of her long career of more than 50 years she has been awarded a total 10 Grammys. Billboard Magazine has listed her 65th among the top dance artist in history. She was introduced to jazz when she was just a young girl. At the beginning of her career, she performed with several bands. In the later years, she was part of a group called Rufus. She released her debut album in the band around the age of 20. The group was awarded their first Grammy recognition a year after. Then, a few years later, she debuted as a solo artist, and the album was self-titled. Then she released a number of albums over the years, including 'Echoes for an Era', 'The Woman I Am' and "Funk It". Other than her contributions to music, she's also received recognition for her charity work. Chaka Khan Foundation, which was established to assist people with autism and children as well as poor families. Khan is also an occasional actor. She was in the role of Sister Carrie from the show "Mama, I Want to Sing."
